An enigmatic soldier comes across a woman with otherworldly powers, who tasks him with retrieving a magical item under threat of violence. Reluctantly, the Soldier descends into a dangerous realm inside a tree, where he searches through the darkness for treasure and encounters a terrifying monster. Finally, he returns to his own world for a violent final confrontation with the Witch to decide his fate.
